An established medical device company are going through a development stage, redesigning and modernising their whole product portfolio, as well as looking at the design & development of their next generation of products.

They are looking for an Electronics Engineer to play a key role in end-to-end product development, working on innovative, high-voltage electronic systems used in global markets with both professional and consumer applications.

They are a small dynamic team, and currently utilise a contractor for all electronic design and development, but looking to bring everything in house. This person will take full ownership of electronic design & development within the business. they ideally need someone with experience working on large scale PCBs, with knowledge of power electronics and ideally medical device experience (although this is not essential).

The role:

  • Lead the design and development of complex, large-scale PCB assemblies.
  • Undertake analogue and digital circuit design, including high transistor count applications
  • Interface controllers and microprocessors (PIC32 experience ideal, but other platforms considered)
  • Contribute to safety-critical design with an understanding of isolation principles and IEC 60601 standards
  • Support transition from Proteus to Altium for PCB layout and design
  • Work across the full product lifecycle – from concept and prototyping through to validation, testing, and release
  • Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams to integrate electronics into complete system designs
  • Apply knowledge of power electronics (up to 40kV) to support product development and innovation

Experience/skills:

  • Degree (or equivalent) in Electronics, Electrical Engineering, or related subject
  • Proven experience with power electronics and high-voltage PCB design
  • Strong circuit design skills (both analogue and digital)
  • Experience with microcontrollers (PIC32 preferred)
  • Familiarity with Altium (or willingness to transition from other PCB tools)
  • Knowledge of medical, automotive, aerospace, or other highly regulated industries desirable
  • Ability to take ownership of projects and see them through the full development lifecycle
