We are supporting a well-established manufacturing organisation in the search for a Sustainability Advisor to support and drive environmental performance across products, operations, and the wider supply chain. This is an excellent opportunity for an early-career sustainability professional to take ownership of a stand-alone role, working closely with senior leadership and cross-functional teams to embed sustainable practices across the business. You will play a key role in supporting sustainability strategy, improving environmental performance, and ensuring compliance with evolving legislation and customer expectations within a dynamic manufacturing environment.
Responsibilities
- Supporting the development and delivery of sustainability initiatives and environmental objectives
- Collecting, analysing, and reporting environmental data including energy usage, carbon emissions, materials, and waste
- Monitoring progress towards Net Zero targets, identifying trends, and recommending improvement actions
- Supporting product sustainability by working with Product Development on materials, lifecycle data, and environmental credentials
- Ensuring compliance with environmental regulations, standards, and certifications (FSC, EPDs, DEFRA requirements)
- Working with suppliers to gather sustainability data and improve transparency across the supply chain
- Leading and supporting sustainability projects and internal campaigns (recycling, energy reduction)
- Acting as a key point of contact for sustainability-related customer queries and tender submissions
- Promoting sustainability awareness across the organisation through engagement, training, and communication
- Supporting audits and maintaining up-to-date environmental documentation
- Monitoring changes in environmental legislation and advising the business accordingly
- Collaborating closely with internal departments including Operations, Supply Chain, Marketing, and Sales
Experience/Qualifications
- A proactive and motivated individual with a genuine interest in sustainability and environmental performance, looking to develop their career within a manufacturing environment.
- A degree or relevant qualification in sustainability, environmental science, or a related discipline
- Ideally 1–2 years’ experience in a sustainability or environmental role (including placements or internships)
- Working knowledge of environmental legislation and reporting requirements
- Confidence supporting or leading audits and compliance activities
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and identify improvement opportunities
- Good communication skills with the ability to engage stakeholders across the business
- A collaborative approach, with the ability to work cross-functionally and influence where required
- A practical mindset with the ability to support and lead projects and initiatives
