Win As a Team: We’re looking for an experienced Software Asset Manager to take responsibility for the software licensing strategy, compliance, and optimisation across a complex enterprise technology estate. This is a key role within the CIO function, focused on tier‑one software publishers such as Microsoft, IBM and Oracle, where you’ll play a critical role in reducing commercial risk, supporting audit defence, and driving cost efficiency through effective licence management.
Responsibilities:
- Manage and maintain a comprehensive inventory of owned software licences, maintenance and subscriptions
- Ensure accurate, auditable records of software entitlement, deployment and consumption
- Lead licence compliance monitoring and identify financial or contractual risk exposure
- Support software procurement activities, including contract reviews and negotiations
- Define and implement controls, processes and procedures for effective Software Asset Management
- Conduct regular internal licence reviews, risk assessments and compliance checks
- Optimise software usage and deployment in collaboration with technology and business teams
- Act as a key point of contact during vendor audits and compliance reviews
Skills and Experience:
- Considerable experience in Software Asset Management
- Either extensive knowledge of IBM licensing OR some knowledge of IBM, Microsoft or Oracle licensing (2 of the 3 would be required)
- Excellent understanding of licence metrics and contractual frameworks
- Hands‑on experience of software audits and compliance reviews
- Excellent knowledge of SAM principles, governance and best‑practice processes
- Experience using SAM and discovery tools such as Flexera, Snow Atlas, ILMT and ServiceNow
- Able to engage and facilitate discussions with senior stakeholders
