This role is central to keeping the delegated portfolio operating effectively. As an Underwriter in Delegated (Liability and Property), you’ll review referrals from our partners, make clear decisions within your authority, and ensure activity stays aligned with Intact’s underwriting approach. The work supports the service levels we commit to and helps maintain good working relationships with our delegated partners. It’s a great role for someone who wants to work closely with delegated schemes, use their technical judgement day to day, and play an active part in shaping how delegated business operates across Intact.
You’ll be responsible for delivering a consistent underwriting service to our delegated partners by reviewing referrals, supporting governance, and maintaining good working relationships.
- Review and assess referrals from delegated partners, making decisions within your underwriting authority and escalating where required.
- Work closely with Technical Underwriting Leads and Portfolio Managers to ensure risks align with strategy and appetite.
- Maintain accurate governance records, including referral logs, breach reporting, and clear underwriting rationales.
- Build and manage good relationships with delegated partners, meeting agreed service levels and supporting audits when needed.
You’re an experienced underwriter with good Liability experience, solid Property capability, and the assurance to make clear, well-reasoned decisions. You work with pace and accuracy in a customer-driven environment, and you’re known for the quality of service you provide to brokers and partners.
- Ability to underwrite Liability and Property risks confidently within personal authority.
- Good relationship management skills with both internal stakeholders and external partners.
- Ability to manage workload effectively while meeting agreed service levels.
- Experience working with delegated authority partners and understanding the operational nuances involved.
