Win as a Team. We’re looking for a Senior Reserving Consultant (Controls) to play a key role in uplifting, operating and embedding actuarial controls that sit at the heart of our reserving and financial reporting processes. You will be based in either Horsham or Liverpool on a hybrid basis.

You’ll make an impact by:

  • Delivering high‑quality general insurance reserving controls, ensuring robust oversight of reserve reviews and booking processes.
  • Working collaboratively with Group Financial Control, external consultants and business partners to design, uplift, document and operate improved actuarial controls.
  • Ensuring compliance with all professional, regulatory and IFC standards.
  • Developing and maintaining control documentation, flowcharts, training materials, and ensuring the team is fully equipped to operate the uplifted processes.
  • Leading and supervising the controls delivery of the Corporate Actuarial team.
  • Strengthening the control environment around data inflows, working with Finance, Claims, Underwriting & Pricing teams to ensure high‑quality data and robust governance.
  • Supporting continuous improvement across the Corporate Actuarial function.
  • Building excellent working relationships and supporting the development of junior colleagues.

Your skills and experience:

  • A qualified actuary with relevant general insurance reserving experience.
  • Audit and Controls knowledge within general insurance would be beneficial.
  • Ability to lead and supervise the controls delivery of the Corporate Actuarial team.
  • Able to work independently with accountability, while collaborating closely with senior members of the team.
  • An excellent communicator with the credibility to work across actuarial, finance and control functions.
  • Someone who enjoys problem solving, improving processes and embracing new technology.
  • Experience using IBM Blueworks for process documentation would be an advantage (but not essential).
