We are supporting a respected UK insurance brokerage that is expanding its wholesale offering and seeking a dynamic Business Development Manager to help accelerate growth. This position is perfect for someone who thrives on building broker relationships, opening new distribution channels, and driving revenue within the London Market and regional wholesale space.
You’ll act as the face of the wholesale team - identifying opportunities, nurturing broker partnerships, and promoting access to a wide range of commercial products including Property Owners, Terrorism, Management Liability, and Engineering. This is a high-impact role suited to someone commercially driven, relationship-focused, and confident operating at pace within a growing division.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and grow relationships with regional and London-based retail brokers, acting as their key point of contact.
- Identify new business opportunities and strategically target brokers to expand the wholesale distribution footprint.
- Promote the team’s specialist product offering, ensuring brokers understand appetite, strengths, and market solutions.
- Work closely with wholesale brokers and underwriters to support placement strategies and secure competitive terms.
- Attend broker meetings, networking events, and market sessions to raise the division’s profile.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to deliver sales plans and performance targets.
- Provide MI, pipeline reporting, and updates on broker engagement activity.
- Uphold high standards of professionalism, always ensuring FCA compliance.
- Represent the brand with integrity and help shape the future growth of the wholesale business.
- Proven experience in a Business Development, Development Underwriter, Development Broker, or broker-facing Account Executive role.
- Strong understanding of wholesale or London Market distribution channels.
- Existing relationships with regional or London retail brokers highly desirable.
- Confident communicator with the ability to influence, negotiate, and open doors.
- Commercially minded with a track record of delivering growth.
- Knowledge across Property Owners, Terrorism, Management Liability, or general commercial lines beneficial.
- Highly organised, proactive, and motivated by targets and results.
- Full UK driving licence required for regular broker visits.
