We are recruiting for a specialist MGA operating within the M&A and transactional insurance market, following continued growth and an increase in business volumes across its Financial Lines portfolio. They are looking for an experienced Financial Lines Underwriter who can join the business and make an immediate contribution. This is very much a hands-on underwriting role. They need someone who enjoys the day-to-day underwriting – reviewing submissions, assessing risks, making decisions, negotiating with brokers and getting business successfully across the line.
The Opportunity
You'll work across a growing portfolio of Financial Lines business, with particularly strong experience required across:
- Professional Indemnity (PI)
- Management Liability / Management Liability Package (MLP)
- Wider Financial Lines risks
You'll be joining an experienced specialist team at an exciting point in its growth, helping manage increased business volumes while maintaining strong underwriting standards and broker service.
What You'll Be Doing
- Underwriting new and renewal Financial Lines business within agreed authorities.
- Assessing PI and Management Liability risks.
- Reviewing submissions and determining appropriate appetite, pricing, terms and conditions.
- Managing a busy flow of underwriting enquiries.
- Making confident and commercially considered underwriting decisions.
- Negotiating terms directly with brokers.
- Managing referrals and more complex risks where required.
- Providing brokers with a responsive and knowledgeable underwriting service.
- Developing strong relationships with broker partners.
- Contributing to the profitable growth and performance of the portfolio.
What We're Looking For
We're particularly interested in speaking with underwriters who have:
- Strong Professional Indemnity underwriting experience.
- Good Management Liability / MLP experience.
- Broader Financial Lines knowledge.
- Experience gained within an MGA or insurer environment.
- Strong technical underwriting and risk assessment skills.
- Confidence dealing directly with brokers and negotiating business.
- A commercial and pragmatic approach.
- The ability to manage a busy workload and make decisions.
- A proactive, hands-on mentality.
Most importantly, they are looking for a doer – someone who genuinely enjoys underwriting and trading business and wants to be an active part of a growing specialist team.
You may currently be working as a Financial Lines Underwriter, Professional Indemnity Underwriter, Management Liability Underwriter, Commercial PI Underwriter or Senior Financial Lines Underwriter.
Why Consider This Opportunity?
This is a chance to join a specialist, entrepreneurial underwriting environment experiencing genuine growth and increased demand. You'll be close to the business, brokers and underwriting decisions, with the opportunity to use your technical expertise rather than becoming removed from the day-to-day underwriting.
Salary: £60,000 – £70,000, flexible dependent on experience
Location: Flexible for the right individual
Working: Hybrid
Benefits: Excellent company benefits
