This is a fantastic opportunity to join a global leader in material testing, contributing to the design, development, and support of the electrical/electronic aspects of Dynamic Systems innovation projects. In this role, you will experience all areas of the product lifecycle, along with working with many different departments within the company including the Business Team, Operations, and Service.
Key Tasks & Responsibilities
- Working as part of a multi-disciplined development team.
- Able to tackle both analytical and practical work when required.
- Define and execute work packages and sub-tasks of major projects.
- Provide accurate feedback to Project Managers on timescales, progress, and costs.
- Involvement with the full product lifecycle from a Project brief, Design Proposals, Design, Implementation in Manufacturing, and Support.
- Analysis of existing electronic designs, original electronic design in Analogue and Digital Electronics.
- Producing detailed designs for product development, evaluation, and system evaluation.
- Documenting your work thoroughly and participating in peer reviews.
- Prototyping designs, testing them, and producing test documentation and reports.
- Ensuring compliance with relevant safety, electrical, EMC standards, the EU Machinery Directive, the EU Low Voltage Directive, and UL standards.
- Coaching & mentoring more junior members of the electronics team.
- Liaising and working with other departments where necessary to ensure the fulfilment of the task requirements, e.g. Sales Support, Manufacturing, and Service departments.
- Working with external suppliers for component design, specification, and integration.
Key Competencies (includes Skills)
- A keen interest in Engineering and Technology.
- Demonstrable competency in design & analysis of Analog, Digital, and Power Electronics.
- Proven design work in the area of Analog Sensors, Filter design, Signal processing, and Instrumentation electronics.
- Knowledge of Closed Loop Control theory, 3-Phase brushless motor drives.
- Familiarity with Engineering tools, such as PLM, CAD, Cadence, ePLAN.
- Knowledge of VHDL and some experience of FPGA based design.
- Excellent English language written and verbal communication skills.
- Self-motivated completer-finisher.
- A detail-oriented person who is thorough.
- Ability to carry out engineering development tasks with peer review.
- Ability to inter-relate with other disciplines.
- Ability to design for quality, performance, serviceability, reliability, and cost-effectiveness.
Qualifications
Electronics/Electrical Engineer (Masters or 1st Class Honors from a Russell Group University) with at least 5 years proven practical experience in a similar role.
Key Experiences
- Working in a similar role having proven experience of the whole product life cycle from requirements to support and EOL.
- Working as part of a multi-disciplined engineering team on time-bound tasks.
