The HR Manager is a key role within the HR Team. The role holder will manage the day to day operational HR service delivery. The role is accountable for providing a customer focussed, rapid response advisory service on people procedure, policy and cyclical people processes. This includes supporting and coaching line managers in effective people management. The successful candidate needs to have proven experience of successful management of people services delivery and ability to partner with internal stakeholders to align HR initiatives with organisational goals. The role is best suited to someone who has solid HR Generalist experience, including organisational development and change, with a strong people oriented attitude and commercial mindset.
While this role is initially offered on a fixed term basis for 12 months, we hope that the contract can be extended.

Main responsibilities
- Recruitment and induction: Deliver end-to-end recruitment, onboarding and induction processes, ensuring effectiveness and embedding HR good practice, efficiency and in line with legislation.
- HR advisory and policy: Act as first point of contact for HR queries, provide guidance, and ensure compliance with policies and legislation. Manage cyclical policy reviews; develop new policies and procedures as required. Promote self-service and accountability by providing tools, resources, and training to enable people to use HR systems, policies and processes efficiently and effectively in support of people development. Contribute to internal communication activities.
- Employee relations: Manage ER casework, advise managers, and monitor trends for proactive interventions under supervision of Head of HR. Escalate sensitive ER cases to Head of HR. Build manager capability; coach and equip managers to handle people issues confidently.
- Performance management: Manage appraisal cycles, support managers, and align performance with development.
- Benefits administration: First point of contact for benefits administration, including third party liaison. Support periodic reviews of our benefit offer and oversee benefits implementation.
- Training and development: Coordinate learning programmes, identify skills gaps and solutions, and promote continuous development. Deliver training and skills development.
- Align HR with organisational goals, including: Partner with leadership to ensure HR initiatives support organisational objectives. Contribute to a collaborative culture that supports, motivates and engages the people to achieve including employee engagement, inclusion, and wellbeing. Support organisational development including team building, team away days. Support change management initiatives.
- HR systems and reporting: Manage HRIS, ensure data accuracy, produce insights, and drive process improvements.
- General: Assist the wider Operations team in developing and implementing new projects. Deliver other relevant ad hoc projects. Actively participate in building a cohesive team culture.
Skills and experience
- Proven experience in Generalist HR roles with exposure to strategic projects.
- CIPD Level 5 or equivalent professional experience.
- Strong knowledge of UK employment legislation and HR best practices.
- Commercial awareness and ability to adapt to evolving business needs.
- Ability to interpret HR data to inform decisions and continuous improvement.
- Proficiency in HR systems and digital tools for process efficiency.
- Experience of HR project implementation.
- Experience supporting organisational development and culture.
- Excellent relationship-building skills.
- Fluent in English (verbal and written).
- Ability to work independently under minimal supervision as well as take instruction under supervision.
- Ability to take initiative to engage directly with stakeholders and have sound judgement in involving senior staff when needed.
- A systematic and organised approach with an ability to follow things through.
- Strong time management skills, ability to prioritise own workload effectively and independently and ensure tasks completed to a high standard and to required deadlines.
- High degree of accuracy and data processing skills.
- Experience in SME or not-for-profit environments.
- Experience working within financial sector or similar setting.
- Exposure to organisational development or change management projects.
- Knowledge of sector-specific commercial drivers.
- A genuine interest in climate change and sustainability issues.
