The Institution of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE) has been at the heart of the mechanical engineering profession since 1847. We are now looking for an IT Project Manager to join us on a full-time, nine‑month fixed‑term contract to cover a period of maternity leave.
The Role
As our IT Project Manager, you will lead the successful delivery of IT projects and programmes that support our strategic goals, managing multiple priorities and guiding cross‑functional project teams using structured methodologies. You will:
- Take the lead on assigned IT‑led projects, create and maintain essential project documentation and templates, including PIDs and communication plans
- Facilitate project board meetings and gate reviews to keep delivery on course
- Track time, budget, scope, and quality metrics for assigned projects
- Communicate project updates to stakeholders
- Maintain accurate and thorough project records and reporting
- Assist with benefit realisation activities after project completion
About You
To be considered, you will need:
- Experience of successfully delivering critical IT business projects
- Strong project delivery experience (incl. change‑management projects) with exposure to medium or large‑scale projects
- Experience in a commercial environment
- Experience in project planning, change control, and creating project reports
- Experience tracking budgets
- Proven ownership of a RAID log for a project
- Proficiency in Waterfall and Agile development methodologies
- Experience developing or assisting in the creation of business cases or tender invitations
The Benefits
