Are you an experienced operational leader in Professional Registration or Fellowship, ready to shape how we deliver at scale? Do you bring the credibility and gravitas to influence senior stakeholders and volunteer leaders across a global network? Can you drive operational excellence while transforming the end-to-end professional recognition experience?
At the IET, making our world a better place starts by creating a better place for our people. At the IET you’ll have more than just a job. Our work is exciting and challenging, connecting the people who solve the problems that matter. It means working with us has real meaning and impact, and you’ll grow – professionally and personally – in ways you never thought possible. We’re also making significant investments in our people, including providing a modern, vibrant workplace and embracing hybrid working.
As our Professional Registration Operations Manager, you’ll lead the delivery and continuous improvement of our Professional Registration and Fellowship operations, ensuring a high-quality, efficient, and consistent experience for members, applicants and volunteers. You’ll oversee the full operational landscape, from registration engagement through to compliance and assurance, making sure processes are robust, scalable and aligned with regulatory requirements. At the same time, you’ll be looking ahead, identifying opportunities to improve efficiency, streamline volunteer touchpoints, and enhance the overall experience.
This is a highly visible role where you’ll work closely with volunteers, assessors and professional partners. You’ll bring credibility and confidence to these relationships, acting as a trusted point of contact and ensuring our processes reflect the professionalism and standards expected of the IET. You’ll also lead and develop a high-performing team, creating clarity, structure and a shared focus on delivery. Alongside this, you’ll work collaboratively across the IET, ensuring a joined-up approach with colleagues in product, engagement, people and technology teams.
A key part of the role will be using data and insight to monitor performance, identify areas for improvement and drive informed decision-making. Whether it’s improving turnaround times, enhancing quality or optimising processes, you’ll play a central role in shaping how we deliver operational excellence.
We’re looking for an experienced operational leader with a strong understanding of Professional Registration, Fellowship or similar assessment-based processes. You’ll bring credibility in this space; ideally through your own professional registration (such as CEng or IEng) or through direct experience working with volunteer-led technical committees or assessment panels. You’ll be confident engaging with volunteers as peers, building trust and influencing effectively.
You’ll have a proven track record of improving processes and driving efficiency, with a focus on creating better experiences for both applicants and volunteers. You’ll be comfortable working with data, identifying opportunities for automation, and implementing practical, scalable solutions. Strong stakeholder management is essential. You’ll be confident working across all levels of the IET, as well as with external bodies and partners, balancing different priorities while maintaining a clear focus on quality and outcomes. You’ll also be an experienced people leader; someone who can coach, support and develop teams while creating a positive, high-performing environment.
Above all, you’ll be someone who takes ownership, brings energy to continuous improvement, and is motivated by delivering a best-in-class professional recognition experience with a dual focus on both applicant and volunteer experience.

- Strong experience in Professional Registration, Fellowship or similar assessment-based environments.
- Credibility with volunteers, ideally through CEng/IEng registration or equivalent experience.
