At the IET, making our world a better place starts by creating a better place for our people.
At the IET you’ll have more than just a job. Our work is exciting and challenging, connecting the people who solve the problems that matter. It means working with us has real meaning and impact, and you’ll grow – professionally and personally – in ways you never thought possible.
We’re also making significant investments in our people, including providing a modern, vibrant workplace and embracing hybrid working.
What you\'ll be doing
As our New Business Account Manager (known internally as a Corporate Account Manager), you’ll play a strategic role in expanding and strengthening our Corporate Partner network. You\'ll proactively identify and pursue new business opportunities, build high-value client relationships, and deliver tailored solutions across the IET’s full suite of offerings, including membership, our Central Payment Scheme (CPS), and other products and services.
Your focus will be on securing new partnerships and expanding existing ones through consultative, insight-driven sales. You’ll own and manage a portfolio of key accounts, ensuring each partner’s evolving needs are met while aligning their goals with the IET’s strategic priorities. You\'ll be expected to think beyond transactional relationships and support long-term growth through cross-sell and upsell activities.
You’ll collaborate with colleagues across marketing, product, and operations to shape impactful proposals and present compelling solutions. You’ll also be a key player in developing and delivering against commercial plans, sales targets, and pipeline forecasts, all of which will need to be supported by accurate CRM and reporting practices.
In this role, you’ll take the lead on high-value opportunities, represent the IET externally at senior-level engagements, and help continuously enhance our sales practices and customer experience. Regular UK-wide travel will be required to engage with clients and deepen relationships.
What we hope you can bring to the role
We’re looking for a highly motivated and strategic account manager with a track record of proactive B2B business development, ideally within a professional membership or consultative sales environment. You’ll be confident in identifying opportunities within both new and existing accounts and be able to present value-led, tailored solutions that resonate with senior stakeholders.
You’ll have strong commercial acumen and excellent communication skills, able to clearly articulate the benefits of our full product suite (from individual and group membership to the Central Payment Scheme and other offerings). You’ll be confident managing complex sales cycles and navigating decision-making hierarchies to secure results.
Experience managing key accounts, driving member recruitment, and expanding relationships through upsell or cross-sell approaches is essential. You’ll also bring a collaborative mindset, mentoring others and helping to continuously improve our customer success and sales practices.
Organised, resilient, and data-savvy, you’ll be comfortable using CRM tools to monitor performance, share insights, and report on progress. Most importantly, you’ll bring a passion for building meaningful partnerships and a commitment to delivering value for clients and the IET.
A Little More About The Role
- Proactively identify new customers and grow existing accounts (acting on cross-sell and upsell opportunities) across membership, events, training, and other services, driving long-term engagement and retention.
- Develop and deliver strategic account plans that align client needs with IET’s offerings and commercial objectives.
- Drive member recruitment by collaborating with partners and internal teams to meet and exceed performance targets.
- Lead tailored presentations and pitches to senior stakeholders, articulating the value of IET membership and services.
- Manage and expand participation in the Central Payment Scheme, ensuring partners realise its full organisational value.
- Attend key meetings and industry events to build strategic relationships and represent the IET at a senior level.
- Maintain accurate CRM records and provide insight-driven reporting to inform account planning and pipeline forecasting.
A Little More About What We’re Looking For
- Previous experience in a Business Development or Account Management sales role is essential; experience within a business-to-business environment and/or Professional Membership Body is highly preferred;
- Ability to communicate clearly and concisely at all levels whilst building rapport and trust;
- Customer-centric approach to sales and account management; understanding their needs and drivers with ability to handle objections and remove barriers;
- Strong English communication skills, both spoken and written;
- Ability to present in a professional and engaging manner;
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team;
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, with a willingness to learn and use relevant support systems, including CRMs and databases.
We’d love to get to know you
