As an Audio Visual Technician, you will play a key role in delivering high‑quality AV services at IET London: Savoy Place. You will be responsible for the seamless setup, operation, and maintenance of AV, lighting, video conferencing, and stage production services, ensuring outstanding technical support for meetings, conferences, and live events. Working closely with clients, internal teams, and third‑party contractors, you will provide exceptional customer service and technical expertise to enhance event experiences.

Your role will include supporting live events by managing audio‑visual setups, troubleshooting technical issues, and ensuring all equipment operates smoothly. You will conduct morning checks to confirm operational readiness, provide first‑line support for meeting rooms, and coordinate with external AV providers to ensure seamless execution. As part of a collaborative team, you will help maintain equipment, contribute to stock management, and uphold high standards of health and safety compliance.

We’re looking for an experienced AV professional with a strong background in setting up and managing AV, video conferencing, and lighting equipment. You’ll have hands‑on experience in live event production and a solid understanding of IT connectivity, networking, and current AV software applications. The ideal candidate will have excellent problem‑solving skills, the ability to work under pressure, and a customer‑focused approach to technical support. A working knowledge of health and safety regulations, risk assessments, and AV‑specific permits is highly desirable. You’ll also need strong communication and teamwork skills to collaborate effectively with colleagues, clients, and external suppliers.

A Little More About The Role

  • Set up, operate, and maintain AV, lighting, video conferencing, and production services across IET London: Savoy Place.
  • Provide first‑line AV support for meeting rooms, troubleshooting technical issues and assisting clients with connectivity needs.
  • Conduct morning operational checks on AV‑equipped spaces to ensure readiness.
  • Support live events by operating mixing units, microphones, and sound feeds, while supervising third‑party AV contractors.
  • Liaise with internal teams, including IET.tv and IT departments, to coordinate filming, streaming, and connectivity requirements.
  • Manage AV equipment stock, ensuring availability and accurate inventory tracking.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, including risk assessments and incident reporting.
  • Support the supervision of third‑party AV contractors and stage build teams.

A Little More About What We’re Looking For

  • Proven experience in AV setup and live event production, including manual handling of equipment.
  • Good working knowledge of AV and video conferencing equipment, including projectors, digital mixing consoles, switchers, and PTZ cameras.
  • Good working knowledge of IT connectivity, networking, and current AV software applications.
  • Experience with lighting design and control systems, including DMX and automated lighting.
  • Excellent problem‑solving skills, with the ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Strong communication and customer service skills, with the ability to engage effectively with clients and stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of health and safety regulations, risk assessments, and industry‑standard compliance.

Please note, this role will require some early starts, late finishes, and occasional weekend work whilst working a 5 days in 7 rota.
