About the Role

As a Membership Development Officer, you will play a key role in growing and supporting our membership. This part-time position combines your technical expertise, mentoring skills, and relationship-building abilities to guide engineers and aspiring professionals on their path to qualification and lifelong learning.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and deliver initiatives to attract and retain a diverse range of members, including technicians and apprentices.
  • Promote ICE membership through targeted outreach activities and events.
  • Provide one-to-one and group support—both online and in person—to individuals at various stages of their professional qualification journey.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with employers, advising them on professional development and mentoring opportunities.
  • Engage with colleges and universities to inspire and support the next generation of civil engineers.
  • Collaborate closely with fellow Membership Development Officers to ensure a consistent and high-quality approach across the team.
  • Maintain accurate records in ICE’s membership databases.

About You:

  • Educated to degree level or with equivalent experience in civil engineering, professional development, or training. A professional qualification (EngTech, IEng, or CEng) is desirable but not essential.
  • Strong communicator with excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills—comfortable engaging with audiences ranging from students to senior professionals.
  • Technically proficient in MS Office and able to translate technical information into accessible, engaging content.
  • Flexible, with a willingness to travel and work occasional evenings. A full UK driving licence and access to a car are required (car allowance provided).
