The ICE is seeking an experienced and strategic lead internal communications manager to shape, drive and deliver the internal communications strategy across the ICE Group. This is a high‑impact, influential role that ensures our people are informed, engaged, and aligned with our vision and organisational goals. Sitting within the Communications team and working closely with the Director General, DG Board, People team, and leaders across the organisation, you will be responsible for planning, implementing and continuously improving internal communications activity. This postholder will also play a crucial part in embedding our values, supporting culture initiatives, and strengthening staff engagement across the organisation.
Key Responsibilities- Internal Communications Leadership
- Develop and deliver a cohesive internal communications strategy.
- Lead all internal communications activity and act as the go‑to expert for the ICE Group.
- Advise senior leadership on communication strategies and responses to staff insights and pulse surveys.
- Oversee all content for internal communication channels, ensuring clarity, consistency and high quality.
- Drive continuous improvement in engagement and communication effectiveness across the organisation.
- Partner with colleagues across Communications and People teams to deliver impactful campaigns and engagement plans.
- Manage the intranet’s maintenance and continuous improvement, ensuring it remains a valuable and user‑friendly resource.
- Engagement & Culture
- Work with teams across the ICE to support staff events, including the annual all‑staff day, DG/Director updates and staff briefings.
- Support the staff forum, helping ensure employee insights inform decision‑making.
- Embed ICE Group values and strengthen culture through strategic internal messaging and leadership engagement.
- Advisory & Collaboration
- Provide expert advice to senior leaders on communication risks, reputational issues and people‑related communications.
- Offer recommendations on new tools, channels and approaches to improve internal communications.
- Ensure cross‑organisational buy‑in for major campaigns and initiatives.
- Line manage team members, providing guidance and oversight where required.
- Monitor risks related to internal communications, implement mitigation plans, and ensure continuity measures are in place.
- Prepare risk summaries for Directors and support organisational readiness.
You will be a confident communicator with strong strategic thinking, exceptional writing skills, and the gravitas to advise and influence.
Skills & Experience- Proven experience in designing and delivering internal communication campaigns.
- Strong understanding of internal communication trends and tools.
- Experience managing content across a range of internal channels.
- Ability to translate complex material into accessible, engaging content.
- Experience advising senior leaders on communication strategies.
- Experience working with People/HR teams on culture, values, and change management communications.
- Workflow management experience and comfort working in fast‑paced environments.
- Experience within a professional membership organisation (desirable).
- Degree‑level education or equivalent relevant experience (essential).
- A professional qualification in media, communications, public relations or similar is an advantage.
