The Role: Thomas Telford Ltd (TTL) is seeking an individual for this digital-first role. In this position, you will be responsible for managing, developing, producing, and distributing our technical content across multiple platforms, as overseen by our Head of Content. You will play a crucial role in ensuring the accuracy, quality, and accessibility of our digital and technical content while supporting the TTL strategy and adhering to its vision and purpose. The role holder is expected to bring significant technical expertise to the team, as well as be the go-to person for digital transformation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Upload and QA content for our digital platforms and ensure it is accurate, authoritative and consistent, and that it adheres to NEC guidelines and house style.
- Implement text and graphic updates and technical fixes needed on our digital platforms using in-house and other CMS and software systems.
- Oversee content management, version control, naming, and digital filing relating to our digital platforms.
- Work collaboratively with other members of the Content team to provide assistance as may be necessary from time to time.
- Work with Marketing and Sales to promote our products, providing content expertise and currency reports as required.
- Perform other relevant duties and projects as assigned.
Key Accountabilities:
- Collaborate with developers, SMEs, and drafters to create, update, edit, and QA digital and technical content related to NEC Contracts, including contracts, flowcharts, guides, articles, case studies.
- Optimise existing digital content while working with internal stakeholders to improve understanding of what makes good content.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, such as IT, Marketing, Sales, and Training, to ensure Content alignment and maximize its impact across various channels and touchpoints.
- Review and suggest improvements for the copy, design and visual elements of all NEC channels and platforms to improve customer experience.
- Ensure that TTL’s digital content supports and reflects the business strategy for each business area.
- Identify and leverage developers and best practices across the business.
- Support the development of standardised (templated) formats and guidelines for content across digital and print.
- Manage the release of digital content via digital platforms.
Skills and Experience:
- Adept with digital and technical content creation and editing in mark-up environments (SGML, XML).
- Adept at working with CMS and other software systems.
- Proven ability to translate complex information into clear and consistent, organised, digital-first content.
- Understanding of user experience and customer journeys.
- Understanding of web content layouts and online content presentation.
- Familiarity with collaborative workflow tools (Asana, Monday, JIRA) will be an advantage.
- Experience with Adobe InDesign, Photoshop, and Acrobat will be an advantage.
- A digital-first mentality, able to keep on top of emerging digital trends and technologies.
- Creative thinker able to develop their own ideas and implement them with others.
- Proven track record of developing outstanding digital and technical content.
- Proven and significant experience of content creation and editing in mark-up environments (SGML/XML).
- Proven and significant experience working with CMS and other systems.
- Proven ability to optimise content for a variety of digital channels.
- Broad understanding of digital marketing approaches, including segmentation and personas.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent.
- Qualifications or courses taken in InDesign and Adobe are desirable.
- Coding/developer experience is desirable.
