Role Description – Apprenticeship Skills Coach – Cellular Network Engineering/Electrical Specialism

The Role

  • Location: UK
  • Working Hours: 3 days per week (part-time)
  • Salary: £40,000 per annum (pro-rata) Equivalent pro-rata salary: £24,000 per annum

Role Purpose

We are seeking an experienced Skills Coach to support the delivery of the Level 4 Cellular Network Field Engineer Apprenticeship. This role is crucial in developing, supporting, and progressing apprentices, ensuring they meet competency standards within agreed timelines.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with apprentices and employers, addressing concerns effectively.
  • Manage a caseload of learners, ensuring timely progression and completion of tasks.
  • Conduct remote learner coaching sessions every 4 weeks, working with apprentices to improve their technical and professional skills.
  • Conduct remote learner reviews every 12 weeks to assess progress and ensure the apprentice is on track.
  • Maintain accurate learner records, ensuring compliance with data protection, safeguarding, and audit requirements.
  • Work with learners, employers, and internal teams to facilitate smooth apprenticeship delivery.
  • Deliver remote training sessions aligned with the apprenticeship standard.
  • Attend site observations at the apprentice's workplace where necessary.
  • Support learners in developing work that aligns with the KSBs of the standard.
  • Prepare apprentices for their End-Point Assessment (EPA).
  • Attend team meetings and ongoing professional development activities.
  • Actively contribute to and uphold ITP's safeguarding commitments.
  • Undertake any additional tasks necessary to support business objectives.

Knowledge & Experience

Essential:

  • Prior experience as an apprenticeship skills coach.
  • Familiarity with the cellular network or telecommunications industry.
  • Understanding of government-funded training programs and awarding body requirements.

Skills & Qualifications

Essential:

  • Strong communication and organisational skills.
  • Effective time management abilities.
  • Active listening and customer service skills.
  • Relevant industry qualifications aligned with the apprenticeship standard.
  • Proficiency in online learning tools or digital assessment methods.

Desirable:

  • Safeguarding and Prevent training (training provided if not already completed).
  • Coaching or assessing qualifications (e.g., NVQ, TAQA, AET, or equivalent).

Behavioural Competencies

  • Strong attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines.
  • Proactive and innovative approach to coaching and training.
  • Team player and adaptable.
  • Passionate about making a positive impact on learners' and the wider industry.
  • Friendly and approachable, able to create and maintain a supportive learning environment.

Other Requirements

  • Full UK Driving License (preferred).
  • Willingness to travel to apprentice sites and potentially stay overnight when required.
  • Commitment to strict adherence to regulatory, compliance, and company policies.
