Purpose of the Job

You will play a key role in delivering IRM’s public training programmes for individuals and bespoke courses for clients, contributing to IRM’s mission to promote the art and science of risk management and build global risk capability, enhancing its reputation as a global training provider.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver engaging training sessions, demonstrating knowledge of the learning cycle and learning styles, which are positively rated by learners and clients as making a measurable difference to knowledge, skill and competency in risk management. Training delivery may be face to face, online or in hybrid formats.
  • Evaluate training effectiveness and return on investment based on feedback and pre and post training performance metrics and report results to the Senior Management Team.
  • Assess individual and corporate client training needs, working closely with internal and external stakeholders and particularly the awards and marketing teams, to specify and maintain a programme of training courses that integrate with awards, is attractive to learners and profitable for IRM.
  • Identify and exploit opportunities for new training programmes and connected learning content in close collaboration with the awards and marketing teams to build IRM’s reputation and increase its margins and profitability.
  • Continuously improve training programmes and connected services, materials and resources to ensure relevance, accuracy, and alignment with current industry standards and best practice.
  • Design and develop public and bespoke training content, materials and resources, working with subject matter experts and using appropriate learning models and frameworks, that are accessible, engaging and interactive.

Knowledge and Skill

  • A strong understanding of training and learning methodologies.
  • A successful track record of presenting and facilitating engaging learning opportunities gained working with diverse audiences and supported by the lived experience of working with groups that have different learning needs and styles.
  • Significant understanding of enterprise risk management principles, frameworks, and practices and future developments in risk management supported by an IRM qualification.
  • Practical experience of risk management gained in a public or private sector context.
  • Effective written communication skills demonstrated by the ability to convey complex concepts and ideas to diverse audiences.
  • Effective problem analysis and an innovative approach to problem solving.
  • Leadership – rallies people round a clear vision, sets SMART objectives, gives and encourages constructive feedback, confronts difficult issues and supports individual and team development through coaching and mentoring.
  • Strategic focus – creates strategies to ensure the long-term sustainability and profitability of the IRM taking into account the changing global environment and the threats and opportunities facing the IRM including political, economic, environmental, social and technological impacts.
