Ready to impact a better future? As an Electrician in our Devonport Technical Team, you will play a key role in maintaining and repairing the electrical machinery that keeps our vessels operating safely and reliably. Through your work, you will help ensure essential marine services continue to support communities and deliver positive impact every day. You will be part of a skilled maintenance team responsible for keeping our fleet running efficiently. Your work will directly contribute to safe vessel operations, reduced downtime, and the assurance that essential maritime services are available where and when they are needed. Every task you complete helps create a safer, more resilient future.

What You Will Do As An Electrician:

  • Carry out fault finding, defect rectification, and maintenance across a range of electrical plant and apparatus on our fleet of vessels.
  • Diagnose and repair generators, AC and DC motors, pumps, control circuits, breakers, and switchgear, including complex systems and synchronising arrangements.
  • Overhaul and install electrical equipment across distribution, control, navigation, and communication systems.
  • Calibrate and set up sensors for pressure, temperature, and other associated equipment.
  • Ensure spare parts, equipment, and tooling are available, maintained, and calibrated to support continuous operation.
  • Maintain accurate records, follow statutory regulations, and work safely under permit-to-work and tag-out systems.

Does this sound like you?

  • SC cleared or have no issues obtaining one.
  • Time-served electrical experience, ideally gained in a marine, industrial plant, or power-generation environment.
  • The ability to read and interpret complex electrical drawings, with wider understanding of hydraulic, pneumatic or mechanical systems desirable.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, with a methodical, logical approach and the ability to prioritise effectively.
  • Clear, professional communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively within a team environment.
  • Experience with PLC systems, generator fault finding, and ideally engine diagnostics (CAT engine experience desirable).

This role requires Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) clearance, which involves verifying your identity, employment history, nationality, and criminal record to meet government security standards. In addition, depending on the nature of the role, you may need to obtain formal Security Clearance (such as CTC or SC), which includes more detailed background checks on employment, criminal record, and financial history to ensure suitability for working in secure environments. Please note that UK residency requirements may apply for certain levels of clearance. You will also complete an Occupational Health Questionnaire so we can identify and provide any support you may need to undertake the role effectively.
