The role involves being at the heart of our Submarine Operations Centre, providing technical expertise that keeps the Royal Navy's submarine fleet mission-ready. This is a varied and dynamic role where you'll combine engineering knowledge with cutting-edge digital tools to improve maintenance management and design projects that ensure operational success. Every day brings new challenges — mechanical, electrical or weapons engineering — making this an exciting opportunity to grow your skills and make a real impact.
Day-to-day responsibilities include:
- Providing engineering support to Royal Navy submarine ships staff.
- Investigating and resolving complex technical issues within defined timescales.
- Recommending solutions for system operations, defect history and repair options.
- Interpreting technical documentation and advising on material specifications.
- Collaborating with stakeholders to ensure maintenance projects meet operational needs.
This role is full time, 35 hours per week and provides hybrid working arrangements with 2 days in the office/onsite and 3 days working from home.
Essential Experience:
- Knowledge of submarine in-service support arrangements.
- Experience resolving complex electrical and mechanical investigations.
- Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Ability to champion high performance and inspire others.
- Proactive and able to work autonomously to meet deadlines.
Qualifications:
- NVQ Level 3 or above in electrical or mechanical engineering.
Security Clearance:
The successful candidate must be a sole UK national who is able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role. Many positions within our company are subject to national security clearance and Trade Control restrictions.
