Taxi Licensing Training Officer

2 Year Fixed Term Contract

We have an excellent opportunity join our busy, customer-focused, and proactive Licensing Team as a Taxi Licensing Training Officer on a 2 year fixed term contract. Internal secondments will also be considered for this opportunity.

Our taxi and private hire licensing policy has been reviewed and is currently under consultation and we need an experienced and knowledgeable trainer to lead the development of drivers and applicants to improve and maintain standards in the profession.

Keeping people safe is at the heart of everything we do, and you will be given the unique opportunity to work collaboratively with other teams within the Council as well as external partners to develop and deliver training to taxi and private hire applicants and drivers.

You will be a confident and knowledgeable presenter and proficient in ICT to enable a modern, engaging and interactive approach and to ensure accurate record keeping. As a key member of the team you will also be involved in some proactive and investigatory work that complements the training offer so previous regulatory and/or investigatory experience is a must.

To be successful in this in busy and interesting role you will have:

  • A Level 3 training qualification (or equivalent) (PTLLS or AET or similar) OR the ability to demonstrate through experience, the necessary knowledge to carry out the full range of duties, AND/OR the willingness to work towards an appropriate qualification.
  • Highly effective communication and presenting skills and experience of delivering training
  • In depth knowledge of current practices and techniques used in providing advice and securing compliance with regulatory law.
  • Ability to plan, lead, monitor and report on projects.
  • Ability to work effectively with people, build and maintain strong working relationships and negotiate successful outcomes.
  • A commitment to promoting diversity, inclusion, and equality in service delivery.

You will be required to work flexibly including some evenings and weekends where necessary to meet the needs of the service.
