Overview

East Cambridgeshire District Council is seeking a dedicated and experienced individual to take on the role of Senior Licensing Officer. Your role will be to manage the day-to-day operational requirements of the Council’s licensing service.

Responsibilities

You will line manage a successful and highly motivated licensing team, reporting directly to the Licensing Manager. You will help to develop and implement effective policies and enforcement systems to ensure compliance with numerous licensing regimes including taxi licensing, alcohol, entertainment, gambling, animal welfare, scrap metal, street trading and sex establishment licensing, and deputise for the Licensing Manager in their absence.

Requirements

You will have a good standard of education with two A-Levels graded C or above (or their equivalent) and possess at least three years’ experience of working in a local government licensing service. We’re looking for someone with proven experience in licensing and licensing compliance, with a strong knowledge of relevant legislation and statutory frameworks, and excellent communication, presentation, negotiation and investigative skills. Experience in supervising, mentoring or managing a team is essential, as is experience of preparing and presenting reports to Committees.
