About the Role

We are looking for a committed and enthusiastic individual to join our licensing team working across our two boroughs. The team is responsible for a variety of public safety, health and safety and animal welfare regimes in connection with Alcohol and Entertainment, Gambling, Special Treatments, Street Trading, Animal Activities and Sports Ground Safety (and others).

Key Responsibilities

  • Process licence applications and associated paperwork through to issuing licences and permits.
  • Carry out on‑site inspections to ensure compliance with conditions and legal requirements.
  • Respond to and investigate complaints from residents and businesses.
  • Provide advice and guidance to residents and businesses.
  • Prepare reports and appear at Licensing Sub‑Committees for contested applications.

Essential Requirements

  • Excellent communication and time‑management skills.
  • Confidence dealing with members of the public, elected councillors and enforcement agencies.
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities and work accurately under tight deadlines.
  • Good organisational and record‑keeping skills.
  • Access to a vehicle and a full driving licence are desirable.
  • Ability to work independently as part of a small, busy team and support other services when needed.
