The Institute of Hospitality (IoH) is in an enviable position to lead the global hospitality sector in Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging (DEIB). This role will support the creation of educational resources, Continuing Professional Development (CPD), articles, white papers and case studies, while supporting businesses and individuals with EDI strategies and best practice.
Success in this role will be demonstrated through increased diversity activity across the sector, promotion and education on the value of EDI, industry collaboration to address future challenges, and the sharing of best practice. The role of Diversity, Equity, Inclusion & Belonging (DEIB) Lead for Hospitality will form part of the IoH’s central education and best practice services.
Key ResponsibilitiesAs the DEIB Lead, the post holder will:
- Ensure the DEIB agenda is recognised as positive, proactive and influential in contributing to the IoH’s strategic and operational planning processes.
- Support the development and implementation of DEIB best practice and education, including policies, procedures, guidelines, practices and behaviours that support IoH members and the wider hospitality community.
- Provide advice and guidance on DEIB-related policies, procedures, guidelines, practices and behaviours.
- Deliver relevant DEIB training opportunities.
- Develop and lead an integrated approach to DEIB aligned with organisational values, behaviours and sector best practice.
Produce a three-year strategy for the delivery of DEIB best practice and education, including:
- Creation and rollout of educational resources
- DEIB white papers, case studies and roundtables
- Subject-specific articles for online and print media
- Continuing Professional Development (CPD) activity
Deliver the DEIB strategy in partnership across the IoH and the wider industry. Build and develop partnerships to support delivery. Engage with employers and IoH members to support DEIB and wellbeing strategies and their implementation. Develop and roll out an industry-wide DEIB audit. Develop and manage an online DEIB helpline. Identify and apply for funding sources to support the role, including preparing successful funding bids and applications. Provide regular updates to the IoH Management Team, funders and key stakeholders. Work with the IoH DEIB Council to progress projects and initiatives. Work closely with the IoH team to meet and exceed key objectives. Act as DEIB lead across all IoH outputs to ensure fair representation of members and the wider hospitality community. Adopt a flexible approach to working patterns to meet the needs of the role. Undertake any reasonable request outside of this job description. Carry out all duties in line with the Institute’s Articles of Association and Bye Laws.

Person SpecificationThe successful candidate will demonstrate:
- Extensive knowledge of current Equality, Equity, Diversity and Inclusion issues.
- Understanding of the breadth and diversity of the hospitality, leisure and tourism industries.
- Proven experience in identifying funding opportunities and securing successful funding bids.
- Strong critical thinking and decision-making skills.
- Excellent interpersonal and presentation skills.
- Strong organisational, prioritisation and time management capabilities.
- Performance management experience.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
