This role offers a flexible hybrid working arrangement and would suit candidates based anywhere in the South of England. While the majority of work can be undertaken remotely, occasional travel to our London office will be required for team meetings and collaboration.

The role supports activity across the South, South West and Devon & Cornwall regions, and the successful candidate will be expected to undertake occasional travel within these areas to support members, volunteers and events.

What you'll be doing

As a Relationship Executive, you'll play a key role in building and strengthening relationships with IoD members, volunteers and community leaders across the South of England. Working within the Relationship Team, you'll help create vibrant member communities, support volunteer-led initiatives and ensure members maximise the value of their IoD membership.

This is a highly collaborative role that combines relationship management, community engagement, event support and operational coordination. You'll work closely with colleagues across Membership, Events, Professional Development, Marketing and Policy to deliver an outstanding member experience.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Building strong relationships with members and volunteer leaders through proactive engagement and effective communication.
  • Supporting Regional and Special Interest Group leadership teams through volunteer recruitment, onboarding and ongoing development.
  • Working with colleagues to plan and deliver member engagement, retention and growth initiatives.
  • Supporting the creation, promotion and delivery of local, regional and national events.
  • Providing excellent customer service and acting as a trusted point of contact for members and volunteers.
  • Maintaining accurate records and member activity data within the IoD CRM system.
  • Monitoring community performance and producing reports and insights to support decision-making.
  • Identifying opportunities to improve processes and enhance the member experience.
  • Representing the IoD at occasional regional events and meetings across the South, South West and Devon & Cornwall.


What we're looking for

Essential Qualifications

  • Degree qualified, or able to demonstrate equivalent professional experience.
  • A minimum of two years' experience in a membership, customer service, relationship management or community-focused environment.

  • Strong understanding of business, membership or professional organisations.
  • Excellent customer service skills and a genuine passion for delivering exceptional member experiences.
  • Experience using CRM systems and maintaining accurate records.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong organisational and project management skills.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and work effectively in a hybrid environment.
  • Strong stakeholder management and relationship-building skills.
  • Awareness and understanding of GDPR requirements.
