Duration: 3–4 months

About the Role:

We are seeking an experienced Freelance Website Project Manager to support the post-launch optimisation of our recently relaunched website www.ioa.org.uk. The successful candidate will serve as our day-to-day representative, coordinating improvements across functionality, usability, and content discovery, working closely with internal stakeholders and external web development partners. This is a short-term, hands-on delivery role requiring strong organisation, stakeholder management, and digital product experience.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and coordinate a structured programme of website fixes and enhancements following a recent relaunch
  • Audit current website functionality, navigation, and content discoverability issues
  • Define, prioritise, and manage a backlog of required improvements
  • Act as the main liaison between internal teams, content owners, designers, developers, and third-party suppliers
  • Ensure issues are clearly documented, scoped, and delivered to agreed timelines
  • Support usability improvements and user journey optimisation
  • Monitor progress against agreed KPIs and milestones
  • Provide regular status reporting and recommendations to senior stakeholders
  • Help establish practical processes for ongoing website governance and optimisation

Key Deliverables:

  • Prioritised roadmap of website improvements
  • Delivery oversight of agreed technical and content fixes
  • Clear documentation of changes and future recommendations

What we're looking for:

  • Proven experience managing website or digital projects, ideally including post-launch remediation or improvement programmes
  • Experience building as well as deploying / managing websites (ideally full stack development – i.e. client-side and server-side)
  • Strong understanding of website functionality, UX principles, and content architecture
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills — you’ll be representing us with external teams
  • Comfortable working with ambiguity and able to bring structure and clarity to a fast-moving workstream
  • Familiarity with project management tools (e.g. Jira, Asana, Trello, or similar)
  • Self-sufficient and proactive — able to operate independently with minimal day-to-day oversight

Nice to have:

  • Experience working with CMS platforms (e.g. WordPress, Contentful, Drupal, Magnolia). The new website uses Magnolia CMS.
  • Background in SEO or content strategy, particularly around discoverability
  • Previous experience in a client-side or agency project management role

Practical Requirements:

  • Able to work part-time (approx. 2 days per week) for the duration of the contract
  • Within reasonable commuting distance of Buckinghamshire for occasional in-person meetings
  • Comfortable working in a hybrid and collaborative environment
  • Please, no agency applicants; we are looking for an individual WPM.

How to Apply:

If you are interested, please submit:

  • A short statement outlining your relevant experience
  • Examples of similar website improvement or relaunch projects you have managed
  • Your day rate and availability
  • We are keen to appoint quickly and will review applications on a rolling basis.
