It is a nominated body of the Engineering Council, offering professional registration at Chartered and Incorporated Engineer levels. With around 3,000 members from diverse backgrounds, including engineering, science, education, law, architecture, and environmental health, the Institute fosters a strong multidisciplinary culture. Members’ interests cover a wide range of topics, including architectural and building acoustics, electroacoustics, noise and vibration, hearing and speech, aerodynamics, underwater acoustics, and environmental acoustics. Role Description
You will be responsible for the administration of conferences and one-day meetings in liaison with volunteer specialists planning the programme for the event. Working with the Marketing Lead to promote events through the website and social media. Administration of relevant website content.
You will regularly travel within the UK to visit venues and occasional overseas visits. Two to 3 times a year, the role will involve 3-day overnight stays at events, with occasional short overseas trips.
The Events Officer will have a significant role in supporting the Marketing Lead in using digital media to raise awareness of acoustics, the Institute and our events.
- Experience with a successful track record of organising events
- Proven track record of influencing and communication skills, including working with volunteers
- Tact and the ability to liaise with key stakeholders, i.e. interested internal and external parties with disparate and sometimes conflicting agendas
- Computer literate with good Word and Excel skills, with the ability to manage website and social media content, and a willingness to learn and use new software as AI and software develops
- A proven track record of being able to create and manage event budgets
Note: Apart from when you are running events for the IOA, you will be required to work at our head office 4 days a week. We are ideally looking for someone who lives close to our Milton Keynes office for their daily commute.
Hours: Full-time, 9-5 Monday to Friday
Salary: £32,000 -£35,000 per year depending on experience
Leave: 24 days/year plus public holidays
