IPPR North is the leading think-tank based in the North of England. Our pioneering research and ideas have shaped progressive policy making for more than two decades. From being early champions of devolving powers to communities and local leaders to making the case for resetting UK economic policy to support England’s regions, our research and policy work puts forward bold but actionable solutions to society’s problems.

This is an exciting time for IPPR North – and a critical moment for England’s regions. In the face of the rise of populism, it’s clear no people or places can be left behind. Whether it’s by resetting the economic status quo or rewiring democracy, our task is increasingly urgent.
We’re looking to recruit a senior research fellow to join IPPR North and take a leading role in shaping ideas for the future of our regions at this pivotal time.
This is a high-impact and influential role in British politics, combining analysis, ideas, policy and politics. IPPR North has helped provide the blueprint for devolved power and economic leadership, now it’s time to make sure it’s working as best as possible for the people of this country.
About you
We’re looking for someone who is curious, analytical and full of initiative, someone who thrives on solving problems and thinking creatively.
You’ll have a strong ability to interpret data, draw patterns, and generate original research ideas. You’ll be experienced in managing people and juggling multiple projects, delivering high-quality, impactful work at pace, and collaborating effectively within an ambitious team. You’ll be confident in turning complex research into accessible formats for a political audience and show promise in communicating ideas through the media.
