Centre Assistant at Arete Outdoor Centre

Start Date: September for a 12 month contract

Opportunity to gain skills and experience in the outdoor industry, while helping out at Arete Outdoor Centre. We are an active and leading outdoor centre in North Wales offering a range of adventurous activities including rock climbing, mountaineering, gorge walking, coasteering, canoeing & kayaking on rivers, sea and lakes, and underground exploration.

It is suitable for applicants that wish to undergo training and work towards ML, RCI, Local Mine Leader and British Canoeing PSI or PSL. Those applicants with personal rock climbing, mountaineering, kayaking or canoeing experience are particularly desirable. Previous work with groups would also be beneficial.

A mentor scheme will progress your skills as you initially observe then work alongside experienced and well qualified instructors. Three activity days per week are possible as you develop your skills.

There will be two days of paid work per week helping out around the centre. These jobs can include store maintenance, kitchen duties and cleaning.

We provide accommodation plus remuneration of £418 per month for the paid work days. Food will be provided, while kitchen staff are catering for groups that are staying at the centre. Extra paid work around the centre can be provided on days off or evenings.
