As an Apprentice Instructor you will deliver exciting and fun activity sessions to our guests, who range from Scouts and Guides, Schools (including schools with additional needs children) and Youth Groups to Families and adult groups. The apprenticeship will consist of on-site training as well as attending some external courses leading to you running sessions with our guests on your own.
Our Apprentice Instructors will be dynamic and have a passion for wanting to work in the outdoor industry. You will need to be confident, outgoing and have the ability to stand in front of a group of people and enthuse them about your industry. You will be in the limelight representing Skreens Park and Scouting and so will need to conduct yourself in a way that promotes our site, Scouting and the Outdoors. You will be responsible for ensuring the children and groups staying with us want to come back and visit us again.
Set in a Rural Area we have an amazing 57 Acre site with its own Lake for Water sports. We have a massive variety of groups so every day is different and each season brings along a change in the way we operate. We will provide you with all the training needed to be a role model for all the young people that visit us. You will take part in a host of Nationally Recognised Outdoor Qualifications as well as in house training courses, such as Archery GB, NSRA, ERCA high ropes and rescue, PSI. You may choose to live on or off site. Those choosing to live on site will be given a space in our wonderful modern staff house that has been purpose built to a very high standard to accommodate staff. A small rent of currently Β£10 a week is charged to cover all bills and accommodation.

- Set up and take down of activity areas
- Working in the site shop selling Tuck and drinks
- Maintenance of activity equipment β e.g. arrow fletching etc.
- Daily /weekly/monthly cleaning tasks β e.g. buildings toilets etc.
- Site maintenance tasks β e.g. ground works, painting, repairs etc.
Skills and Qualifications
- Level 1 (GCSE Grade D/3) in Functional Skills Maths and English
- A willingness to learn.
- A willingness to have a βgo toβ attitude and to take on the challenge of a new career path.
- Willing to be a team player in a small friendly team.
- Be punctual and well presented with a welcoming smile for the customers.
- Be able to represent Skreens Park in a positive and enthusiastic manner.
- Have a passion for the outdoor industry.
- Have a positive energy and a willingness to challenge yourself to be your best.
- Level 2 (GCSE Grade C/4) in Functional Skills Maths and English
- A history of working within the outdoor sector or training with young people e.g. member of Scouting or Guiding, Outdoor Hobbies and recognition of learning.

Working Hours
35 hours per week (annualised contract which means you may work longer weekly hours mid-season and then take these hours back low season but will receive the same amount of pay every month β even if working less hours βfor the entire contract)
