The Aston School of Computer Science and Digital Technologies are looking to recruit two lecturers in Computer Science to further grow our capacity in research and teaching in this area. As the successful candidate you will be expected to teach across several areas of computer science including opportunities at our London Campus and overseas.

The school is experiencing a period of growth in terms of research activity and student recruitment in the digital sciences: computer science, cyber security, artificial intelligence and data science.
Depending on your research interests you will have the opportunity to work with colleagues in several areas. Collaborations are possible with a number of research centres and institutes within the University, and we are keen to attract applicants who can develop ambitious research collaborations both within and outside the University. We host the Cyber Security Research Centre (CyberHub) and Aston Centre for Artificial Intelligence Research and Application and have close links with the Sir Peter Rigby Digital Futures Institutes. To strengthen our existing teaching and research strengths we are particularly keen to attract applicants with expertise in:
- distributed computing (including cloud and edge computing)
- modern advanced software engineering practice including DevOps, MLOps and Infrastructure as Code
- software testing
- distributed software architectures
- design patterns
- microservices
- the development and deployment of scalable data-driven software systems
We are also keen to build up expertise in Research Software Engineering and applicants who have the potential to collaborate with Research Centres and Institutes within the University are particularly welcome. You will have an excellent research track record, commensurate with your career stage, and demonstrate the ability to produce high quality research outputs and impact.
You will have the opportunity to contribute to the development of a range of teaching activities and the wider curricula in the School.
