Hatfield College is one of 17 colleges of the University of Durham. The postholder will join the College Office team, working directly with the College Master, providing confidential administrative support, and engaging with students and other members of the College as well as external stakeholders. They will provide efficient administrative support for a broad range of College activities including meetings, documentation, publications, and communications. The post is fully in person and will involve occasional evening and weekend work.

Essential Criteria:

  • Five GCSEs at least Grade C or level four (or equivalent) including English Language and Mathematics or a Post-16 qualification or equivalent experience.
  • Experience of working in a busy office environment delivering front line administrative services to a high standard.
  • Experience of managing time to meet deadlines and working under pressure without compromising on quality.
  • Experience of providing advice and guidance to a range of customers and colleagues.
  • Experience of working collaboratively with other team members to ensure the delivery of high-quality services.
  • Experience of providing confidential support such as diary management and correspondence.
  • Experience of supervising a team.

Skills/Abilities/Knowledge:

  • Excellent spoken and written communication skills.
  • Strong digital competence across a range of digital devices and apps including Microsoft 365 applications.
  • Ability to solve problems and contribute pro-actively to the smooth running of operational and event planning activities.
  • Committed to continuing professional development.

Desirable Criteria:

  • Post-16 qualifications or equivalent experience.
  • Experience of supervising a team.
  • Experience of working with students.
  • Experience of taking minutes or meeting notes.
