We’re supporting our client in their search for a Marine Engineering Submarine (MESM) Subject Matter Expert to support a large-scale training transformation programme. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the modernisation of defence training, working on high-impact programmes that support the preparedness of armed forces through advanced learning solutions and cutting-edge technology.

The Role

You will act as a Subject Matter Expert (SME), responsible for identifying, gathering, and validating technical data to support the development of DSAT-aligned courseware and training media. Working closely with courseware and media teams, you will ensure that all training content is accurate, contextualised, and aligned to the correct operational standards and conditions. This role sits at the intersection of engineering expertise and training development, requiring both strong technical knowledge and the ability to translate this into effective learning solutions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the analysis, design, and maintenance of DSAT documentation and processes
  • Identify and source technical data required for courseware and media development
  • Collaborate with SMEs, customers, and suppliers to gather and validate information
  • Work closely with learning designers to ensure training is accurate and contextualised
  • Maintain and revalidate course technical data
  • Identify opportunities to improve training methods and delivery approaches

What We’re Looking For

Essential: Proven at-sea experience as a Cat A or Cat B Nuclear Watchkeeper

Desirable:

  • Experience with PWR2 systems
  • Marine engineering or electrical background
  • Forward Marine Engineering (Fwd ME) experience
  • Experience in training design, analysis, or delivery
  • Submarine/boat build experience
  • Experience working with DE&S or SDA environments
