Instep is looking for a Business Analyst Specialist Coach & Trainer to deliver high-quality training, coaching, and mentoring to apprentices on Business Analyst programmes, supporting the development of their knowledge, skills, and behaviours (KSBs) in line with apprenticeship standards. The role focuses on learner progress, timely achievement, and the effective application of learning in the workplace, ensuring a seamless and positive learner journey from onboarding through to Gateway and End Point Assessment (EPA). The role is expected to comprise approximately 60% coaching and learner support activities and 40% training delivery, although this may vary in line with business and learner needs.

Responsibilities

  • Delivery & Coaching
    • Deliver engaging masterclasses, workshops, and training sessions (online, and face‑to‑face where requested by client) that promote accelerated learning and workplace application.
    • Provide high-quality 1:1 coaching, mentoring, and support to apprentices to enable successful achievement of programme outcomes.
    • Plan and manage teaching, coaching, and mentoring activities to support learner retention and progression.
    • Work collaboratively with other trainers, delivery staff, and stakeholders to ensure a seamless and consistent learner experience.
  • Learner Progress & Assessment
    • Monitor and review learner progress, performance, and welfare regularly, taking proactive action to support retention and success.
    • Set, track, and review SMART targets within assessment plans, ensuring clear, time‑bound objectives.
    • Conduct regular assessments of learners’ knowledge, skills, and behaviours against apprenticeship standards.
    • Provide constructive, meaningful, and stretching feedback to motivate learners and improve performance.
    • Mark and assess apprentice work within Instep’s SLAs, ensuring timely, accurate, and developmental feedback.
  • EPA & Programme Completion
    • Support learners to build a high‑quality portfolio of evidence aligned to EPAO requirements.
    • Manage and track learner progression to ensure timely Gateway entry and End Point Assessment readiness.
    • Ensure learners successfully complete within planned timescales and achieve positive destination outcomes.
  • Employer Engagement
    • Work in partnership with employers to support apprentice development and agree meaningful workplace projects.
    • Provide regular progress updates to internal and external stakeholders in line with agreed communication and review cycles.
  • Compliance & Quality
    • Conduct progress reviews in line with DfE and organisational requirements, ensuring compliance and quality standards are met.
    • Maintain accurate, timely documentation and records, including reviews, reports, and learner evidence.
    • Act on feedback from Quality and operational management to continuously improve delivery and outcomes.
    • Promote and embed Safeguarding, Prevent, Equality & Diversity, and Health & Safety within all delivery activity.
  • Learner Support & Experience
    • Provide ongoing pastoral and academic support to learners, addressing barriers and promoting wellbeing.
    • Monitor learner welfare and implement interventions to minimise early withdrawals.
    • Act as a safeguarding advocate by recognising, responding to, and reporting safeguarding concerns appropriately, ensuring compliance with organisational policies and statutory guidance, and promoting a safe, inclusive learning and working environment for all learners and colleagues.
    • Deliver Functional Skills where required, ensuring timely achievement within programme duration.
  • Planning & Administration
    • Plan learner interactions effectively to ensure clear structure, progression, and purpose at each visit.
    • Manage caseloads effectively, meeting all operational KPIs and performance expectations.
    • Complete all business and personal administration within agreed timescales (e.g., reports, expenses, documentation, feedback).
  • Curriculum Development & Team Contribution
    • Contribute to the design, development, and continuous improvement of curriculum and programme content.
    • Act as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) within Business Analysis, supporting wider team initiatives and projects.
  • General
    • Promote a culture of continuous improvement, equality, inclusion, and learner success.
    • Undertake any other duties commensurate with the role as required.

Qualifications and Experience Required

  • Business Analyst experience.
  • Knowledge of the Business Analyst (L4) Apprenticeship Standard with demonstrable experience in coaching and mentoring Apprentices throughout their individual learning plan towards end point assessment achievement.
  • Great communicator, able to build relationships with customers/stakeholders of all experience levels from early careers through to senior leaders.
  • Ability to personalise approach to meet the needs of varied caseload of learners.
  • A believer in taking responsibility and accountability for their role.
  • To have BCS exams at L4 (x4 plus oral exam) experience or qualifications.
  • Experience of discussing training material with customers.
  • Knowledge of Safeguarding, Prevent and E&D.
  • Knowledge of the current Ofsted Education Inspection Framework.
  • Understanding of the PMQ exam, and APM awarding body.
