Director of Technology Delivery – Instem, Stone, Staffordshire, United Kingdom (Full‑time, on site, hybrid 2 days a week).

Job status: Permanent.

  • What You’ll Be Doing
  • Technology Delivery Leadership
  • Oversee the execution of technology delivery across multiple cross‑functional product teams, ensuring alignment with business objectives, timelines, and quality standards.
  • Manage the delivery of complex projects spanning multiple teams, including platform migrations, environment enhancements, and cybersecurity initiatives.
  • Establish and promote best practices for delivery tracking, providing clear visibility into progress, velocity, and delivery risks.
  • Serve as the key interface between engineering teams, product teams, and senior stakeholders, ensuring alignment on delivery priorities and roadmaps.
  • Agile Delivery & Transformation
  • Lead the adoption and scaling of agile methodologies across the engineering organization, empowering teams to deliver incremental value and continuously improve velocity.
  • Champion an agile transformation towards product centricity and value stream management, aligning structures, processes, and metrics with business outcomes and customer value.
  • Provide leadership and guidance to six delivery leads, ensuring agile practices are followed and refined across all product teams.
  • Collaborate with product leadership to align agile delivery frameworks with product roadmaps and development goals.
  • Project & Program Management
  • Develop and embed strong PMO practices that integrate seamlessly with agile methodologies, ensuring effective governance, reporting, and risk management.
  • Lead implementation of tools and practices for tracking delivery metrics, including sprint progress, velocity trends, and key performance indicators.
  • Ensure delivery roadmaps for major projects are complete with clear timelines, resource plans, and risk mitigation strategies.
  • Monitor and manage project dependencies across teams to ensure smooth execution and on‑time delivery.
  • Complex Project Delivery
  • Lead large‑scale technology projects, including platform migrations, environment enhancements, and cybersecurity improvements.
  • Ensure appropriate governance, risk management, and stakeholder communication for these initiatives.
  • Collaborate with the VP of Platform Engineering and other stakeholders to align complex project deliveries with broader infrastructure and security strategies.
  • Team Leadership & Development
  • Provide mentorship and development for a team of Scrum Masters, delivery leads, and other delivery‑focused roles.
  • Promote a culture of continuous improvement, learning, collaboration, and innovation within delivery teams.
  • Develop and refine the skill sets of team members, equipping them with tools, techniques, and methodologies to drive high performance.
  • Stakeholder Engagement & Communication
  • Act as a trusted advisor and key contact for senior stakeholders, communicating delivery progress, risks, and outcomes.
  • Work closely with the CTO, product leadership, and other department heads to align priorities and strategies.
  • Provide regular executive updates on delivery performance, complex project status, and engineering progress towards key business goals.
  • Adhere to the company’s Quality Management System, ensuring all work is handled securely, professionally, and diligently.
  • What We’re Looking For
  • Proven track record in technology delivery, project management, or a related role with a strong focus on agile methodologies and product‑centric delivery.
  • Experience delivering complex, multi‑team technology projects, including platform migrations and environment enhancements.
  • Extensive experience with agile delivery frameworks (Scrum, Kanban, SAFe, Le SS, etc.) and a history of driving agile transformations.
  • Strong understanding of PMO best practices and experience integrating project governance within an agile environment.
  • Excellent leadership skills, including experience managing and mentoring Scrum Masters and delivery leads.
  • Exceptional stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to influence at all levels of the organization.
