At Instem, you’ll empower pharmaceutical companies, CROs, government agencies, academic institutions, by providing cutting-edge SaaS solutions and consultancy services designed to help researchers make discoveries, and to accelerate and advance their research programs. You’ll work with technology that supports over 50% of global drug discovery and is trusted by leading pharmaceutical, biotech and CRO organisations worldwide.
This role picks up from improvement opportunities identified through the TOM Programme and drives them from prioritisation through to built solution and sustained adoption. A business-facing role sitting within the Architecture Practice, working at the intersection of continuous improvement and hands-on AI delivery. This person partners with business functions across Instem to identify process improvement opportunities, then designs and builds the AI-powered agents, workflows, and reusable components that make those improvements real.
Our Culture & Work Environment: You’ll be part of a friendly, solutions-focused environment within a global business of over 400 people. Here, you’ll experience a high-performance culture balanced with genuine flexibility - we trust you to take ownership, deliver meaningful results, and work in a way that suits you. You’ll be encouraged to grow, share your ideas, and make a real impact. We’re passionate about creating a place where you can develop your skills, contribute confidently, and succeed in your career.
What You’ll Be Doing:
- Opportunity Identification & Prioritisation: Work with business teams to translate process improvement opportunities from the TOM Programme into a prioritised pipeline of AI-enabled initiatives. Facilitate working sessions with function teams to identify where AI, automation, or smarter tooling could reduce effort, eliminate repetition, or improve outputs. Prioritise opportunities by value, feasibility, and readiness, and maintain visibility of the improvement pipeline across functions.
- AI Solution Design & Build: Design and build AI-powered workflows and automations that address identified improvement opportunities – constructing production-ready solutions, not one-off demonstrations. Build and deploy AI agents using Instem's agentic ecosystem (e.g., Cowork, Claude Code, MCP servers, skills, and plugins) combining and extending components to meet each function's needs. Develop reusable skills, prompt libraries, and agentic components that build a shared toolkit across the organisation. Own end-to-end solution delivery: design, build, test, iterate, and hand over – with a clear definition of done for each initiative.
- AI Capability Championing & Enablement: Act as Instem's internal authority on getting the most from AI tooling – proactively identifying where teams are underutilising platform capabilities and demonstrating what is possible. Champion advanced use of AI platforms: introduce functionality teams may not be aware of, and build worked examples and reference patterns for others to follow. Run targeted, practical enablement sessions tailored to each team's specific tools and workflows – not generic AI training. Stay current with AI tooling developments and identify where emerging capabilities create new improvement opportunities.
- Adoption, Governance & Standards: Support teams through adoption of new workflows – acting as an embedded partner, producing handover documentation and runbooks, and iterating where adoption falls short. Ensure all solutions are designed and operated in accordance with Instem's AI usage policies, data handling standards, and Quality Management System. Work within the Architecture engagement model for agents and automations; engage Architecture review where required and contribute outputs back to the practice. Flag data, security, and compliance risks early and route them through the appropriate channels.
What We’re Looking For: We're looking for people who build, not just people who use. As part of the application and interview process, shortlisted candidates will be asked to demonstrate an AI solution, workflow, or agent they have personally designed and built – walking through the problem it solves, the design decisions made, and what they'd do differently. A polished result matters less than evidence of genuine hands-on experience and the ability to think through a real problem.
Essential:
- Demonstrable, hands-on experience building AI agents, automated workflows, and AI-powered solutions in a professional context – constructing and deploying working solutions, not just using AI tools.
- Practical proficiency with agent build platforms (e.g., Cowork, Claude Code, MCP servers, skills and plugins) or demonstrable ability to ramp quickly on Instem's agentic ecosystem.
- Experience identifying and scoping process improvement opportunities through structured discovery with business teams.
- Hands-on experience with no/low-code automation tools (e.g. Power Automate, Make, Zapier) in addition to AI-specific build tooling.
- Ability to produce reusable components – prompt libraries, skills, workflow templates, and patterns others can adopt and extend.
- Strong facilitation skills – able to run working sessions with non-technical teams and surface genuine insight.
- Strong written communication – user guides, runbooks, adoption materials, and build documentation.
- Awareness of AI governance and data handling considerations in a regulated enterprise environment.
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
Desirable:
- Experience in a regulated industry – life sciences, healthtech, or GxP environments.
- Familiarity with process improvement methodologies (e.g. Lean, Six Sigma, BPM) or process modelling notation (BPMN).
- Experience with Microsoft 365 Copilot, Power Platform, or comparable enterprise AI tooling.
- Proficiency in Python or TypeScript – useful for extending solutions where no-code tooling falls short.
- Background in change management or organisational enablement.
- Knowledge of Instem's Quality Management System and its application to this role.
What We Offer: We invest in you because you’re at the heart of our success. Depending on your location, you’ll have access to a range of benefits, including:
- Comprehensive Healthcare (Medical, dental, vision, life, and more)
- Comprehensive wellbeing and support initiatives
- Clear career pathways to support you with getting to the next level
- Pro-rated and immediate vacation days
- Continuous training and development
- Generous retirement plans
