InstaStaff are currently recruiting for a MIG Welder/ Steel Fabricator to join a construction company based in Aldridge. This will be a temporary role, initially 2 days paid trial as soon as possible, then a minimum for 4 weeks work in around a month.

The duties of the MIG Welder/Steel Fabricator will be:

  • Interpreting engineering drawings and structural fabrication
  • Producing components from raw materials
  • Using fabrication tools (benders, saws)
  • Following health and safety
  • Passing a weld test
  • Performing high-quality MIG welding in all positions (vertical, overhead, flat) on structural steel or sheet metal
  • Reading and interpreting technical drawings to layout, measure, cut, and assemble components using machinery like saws and grinders
  • Inspecting finished welds and fabrications for defects, ensuring they meet structural specifications and engineering standards
  • Maintaining a clean workspace, adhering to HSE regulations, and performing preventive maintenance on welding machines

The ideal MIG Welder/ Steel Fabricator will have:

  • Experience in a similar role
  • Experience in a fabrication workshop or engineering environment
  • Proficiency in MIG welding (TIG/stick experience is highly desirable)
  • Strong ability to read engineering drawings and use measuring equipment (tape measures, calipers)
  • Ability to handle manual tasks, standing for long periods, and lifting

The hours of the MIG Welder/ Steel Fabricator are Monday – Friday 7.30am – 4.30pm. Salary for the MIG Welder/ Steel Fabricator is negotiable for the right person.
