Commercial Director - Demand
Department: Growth
Employment Type: Permanent - Full Time
Location: London, Hybrid
Reporting To: Karl Turley
Compensation: £80,000 - £100,000 / year
Description
Instant Impact is an embedded RPO who partner with high‑growth companies and place expert recruiters inside them to transform how they hire. We're a team that moves quickly, holds ourselves to a high standard, and has serious plans for where we're going. We're hiring a Commercial Director to sit within our Growth function. This is a brand new role — there's no playbook yet. You'll come in, build the foundations, establish how we generate opportunity at scale, and create the operating model that makes it repeatable.
We're not looking for a traditional Marketer or Sales Leader. We're looking for someone motivated by deals, relationships, and growth. You'll manage a small team, work closely with the CGO, CMO and our Sales & Marketing teams, and own the pipeline contribution targets end to end — not just contribute to them. If you want to operate at pace, build something that directly drives revenue, and work with people who hold themselves to a high standard — this is the role.
Key Responsibilities
- Define the strategy, tactics, and resourcing required to hit pipeline contribution targets — owning the outcomes, not just the plan. Work closely with the CMO to ensure everything connects back to measurable pipeline, opportunity creation and the long‑term vision.
- Build, develop, and own our strategic partnerships — from the initial relationship through to pipeline contribution and commercial results. You own the relationships, the deals, and the performance.
- Leverage our demand channels to drive and originate opportunities — this isn't about building lists or brand reach, it's about converting activity into pipeline.
- Own opportunity generation across all channels — you're the person accountable for making sure we hit our pipeline targets each quarter, wherever those opportunities come from.
- Own opportunity performance management: forecasting, reporting, plans and the commercial rigour to act on what the data tells you.
- Manage and develop a small team. Set the standard, hold the bar, and bring people with you — enabling them to succeed in the channels they're accountable for.
- Represent Instant Impact at a senior level with client and partner organisations, consistently building your network, identifying opportunities and converting them — not just showing up.
- When a partnership stalls or a channel isn't converting, fix it. You diagnose, assess, and act.
Skills, Knowledge & Expertise
- Significant experience across B2B growth — you understand pipeline, how deals originate, and how it connects to commercial outcomes.
- A track record of building and managing senior external relationships — identifying the right people, developing them over time, and turning those connections into a repeatable source of pipeline and opportunity.
- Proven ability to originate deals or contribute directly to revenue — whether through partnerships, BD, or a combination. You've been close to the number and been part of the team that exceeds it.
- Experience managing and developing a small team — you set a high bar, bring people with you, and you're still a hands‑on player, not just a director of others.
- Strong senior stakeholder management, both internally and externally. You're credible in commercial conversations with senior leaders and you know how to build trust quickly.
- Experience owning and scaling deal origination as the measure of success.
- High ownership mentality — you bring solutions, not problems. When something isn't working, you diagnose it and fix it.
- Comfortable operating with ambiguity and moving fast. You don't need a perfect brief to get started.
- Curious and commercial — you ask good questions, test assumptions, and use data to make better decisions, not just to report on the past.
