In this role, you will contribute to both statutory and non‑statutory policy work, ensuring that strategic objectives are clearly understood and effectively implemented. You will provide professional advice and guidance on planning and housing policy and strategy, underpinned by robust research and evidence. Working with a wide range of qualitative and quantitative data, you will collect, analyse and present information to inform decision‑making and partnerships, ensuring policies, plans, and community engagement outcomes are grounded in objective analysis and communicated in a clear, accessible way.

We are seeking a motivated and analytical Policy Officer to support the design, delivery, and evaluation of key policy and strategy documents relating to planning and housing at Durham County Council.

Qualifications
  • Educated to HNC Level.
  • Evidence of policy or strategy development within either a work based or academic situation.
  • Ability to research, present and manipulate data of various sources.
  • Up to date knowledge of policy and legislation relating to planning and housing.
