An Ofsted Outstanding Montessori nursery and Forest School set in a lovely Georgian house in the centre of Stamford. An Early Years nursery offering care for babies and young children. We adhere to the EYFS where a large emphasis is based on independence through free-choice play.
The Children's Garden Day Nursery require an Apprentice Nursery Assistant to join their workforce, to undertake a level 2 or a level 3 dependant on experience and suitability. They are looking for someone with a passion for supporting the care, education and development of 0-5's under the guidance of qualified practitioners in a unique setting which embraces Montessori, Reggio and Forest school ethos. Your apprenticeship will combine a mix of on-the-job training and formal learning with a tutor.
Responsibilities
- Ensure children's welfare and safety are your primary concern.
- Maintain high standards throughout the nursery, implementing all policies and procedures at all times.
- Ensure good practices are implemented regarding health and safety and hygiene.
- Be aware of the Child Protection policy and know what to do if a suspicion arises.
- Encourage child development through effective, age appropriate activities and play.
- Over time, take responsibility for a small group of Key Children and complete observations and folders.
- Liaise with parents/carers on a regular basis.
- Assist in maintaining a safe, clean and tidy environment.
- Be aware of the fire precautions and procedures and know your specific role in case of an emergency.
- Have a clear understanding of all dietary requirements and allergies.
- Display children's work, ensuring displays are labelled, neat and changed on a regular basis.
- Attend regular staff meetings to ensure we maintain a professional, caring and consistent service.
- Attend any training deemed necessary to develop your career and improve performance.
- Work as part of a team but also use your own initiative.
- Arrive 10 minutes prior to shift start.
- Support the team to keep Key Children folders up-to-date and conduct observations daily.
- Attend staff meetings and parents evenings.
Qualifications and requirements
- Be 16 years or over.
- Not be in full-time education.
- Complete an early years apprenticeship standard.
- Have regular one-to-one sessions with a dedicated trainer either remotely or through visits to your workplace.
- Learn and train for a specific job.
- Get paid and receive holiday leave.
- Get hands‑on experience in a real job.
- Study for at least 20% of your working hours.
- Complete assessments during and at the end of your apprenticeship.
