This apprenticeship is the Level 3 Heavy Vehicle Service & Maintenance Technician standard programme with SAGA Truck & Van in Ipswich, IP5 3RH. As an HGV technician apprentice you will learn how to maintain and repair Daimler trucks to the manufacturers and DSVA standard.
SAGA Truck & Van is looking for a Commercial Vehicle Apprentice.
What you’ll be learning:
- Servicing – carrying out inspections.
- Maintenance – general and preventative maintenance.
- Repairing – repairing or replacing parts.
- Diagnostics – diagnosing faults in the onboard systems.
Training delivery:
- Practical learning in the workplace, shadowing your mentor and carrying out the work while being supervised.
- Online studies, completing workbooks and job cards, attending online sessions and virtual classes with your Development Coach, all done during your working day.
- Attending block release to the Daimler/Remit Training Academy in Derby every 2 months; all costs of hotel, food, accommodation and travel arrangements are covered by SAGA Truck & Van.
Qualifications Required:
- No previous automotive qualifications are required.
- GCSE 9‑4 (A*‑C) or Functional Skills Level 2 in Maths and English. Predicted GCSE grades are acceptable.
- Valid driving licence.
Personal Qualities:
- An interest in the motor industry and HGV mechanics.
- Interest in a hands‑on role.
- Proactive attitude and enthusiasm for learning new skills.
- Punctual with good timekeeping.
- Motivation to succeed and work to a high standard.
Skills Required:
