We are looking for a Cafe Apprentice to join our store as part of our Proper Jobs: Fresh Start Programme.

About the Proper Jobs Fresh Start Programme

It can give you a great foundation in retail, together with plenty of practical know-how that you’ll be able to put to work straight away.

Our Proper Jobs: Fresh Start Programme lasts for up to 2 years. It combines learning in the workplace, formal off-the-job training, online learning and loads of opportunities to practise what you learn in a real work environment.

About the Job Role

Hospitality plays a big role at Morrisons, and providing the best service for our customers in our Cafes is a true Proper Job.

As a Cafe Apprentice, you’ll pick up the key skills and knowledge to thrive in the hospitality industry. You’ll gain hands-on experience in everything from serving food and beverages, to customer service, handling transactions, and teamwork.

In this role, you'll be at the heart of our "customer first" mentality, helping to make sure our guests are provided with delicious food, and a warm, welcoming environment at all times.

Your day-to-day tasks will include:

  • Operating the payment till and processing customer transactions..
  • Front of House duties include opening and closing the cafe, tray service, and ensuring the dining area is clean and inviting.
  • Food preparation and cooking, including plating up meals according to standards.
  • Dishwashing and maintaining high standards of kitchen hygiene.
  • Providing warm, friendly, and helpful customer service throughout the day.

Ideal for school, college or sixth-form leavers seeking their first step into a professional career.

No previous industry experience required – full training and support will be provided through the apprenticeship programme.

As an apprentice you’ll:

  • complete a level 2 Food and Beverage Team Member apprenticeship standard
  • have regular one to one sessions with a dedicated trainer either remotely or through visits to your workplace
  • learn and train for a specific job
  • get paid and receive holiday leave
  • get hands-on experience in a real job
  • study for 6 hours of your working hours
  • complete assessments during and at the end of your apprenticeship
  • be on a career path with lots of future potential
