We are seeking an enthusiastic, team-oriented Veterinary Care Assistant (with the potential to progress to a Student Veterinary Nurse role) to join our team at Wirral Vets on a full-time basis.

How You’ll Make a Difference

As a Veterinary Care Assistant, you will play an important role in supporting the clinical team to deliver high standards of patient and client care, while helping to ensure the practice environment runs smoothly and safely. Working under the direction of a Veterinary Surgeon or Registered Veterinary Nurse, you'll support inpatient care, assist with patient handling and restraint, help maintain clinical areas and equipment, and contribute to a positive and compassionate experience for both patients and clients.

Working Pattern

  • Full-time role working 41.13 hours per week.
  • Four days per week, 8:00am - 6:30pm.
  • Participation in the Saturday rota.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist veterinary surgeons and nurses with clinical procedures, patient handling and restraint.
  • Maintain a high standard of cleanliness and asepsis throughout the practice, including wards, theatre, consultation rooms and prep areas.
  • Ensure clinical areas are adequately stocked with supplies and consumables.
  • Support inpatient care, including feeding, walking and cleaning patients.
  • Assist with inpatient procedures such as bandage changes, blood sampling and catheter placement.
  • Support the sterilisation and preparation of clinical equipment as directed.
