We are seeking an enthusiastic, team-orientated Registered Veterinary Nurse to join our team at Avondale Vets on a full-time basis. Our purpose-built practice, located at the Strathaven Rural Centre since 2009, is equipped to provide the highest standard of care to our clients and their pets. Our team includes 2 Clinical Directors, 1 Practice Manager, 18 Veterinary Surgeons specialising in small animal, farm animal, equine and export work, a Head RVN, 2 RVNs, 1 SVN and 9 support staff. We are committed to ongoing professional development, with several vets pursuing advanced qualifications in areas including surgery, orthopaedics and cardiology. We have also invested in laparoscopic surgical equipment and continue to expand our in-house orthopaedic services, including TPLO procedures.

How You’ll Make a Difference

As a Registered Veterinary Nurse, you will be an integral member of the clinical team, delivering high-quality nursing care to patients while supporting excellent client experiences. You’ll work collaboratively with veterinary surgeons and the wider practice team, taking responsibility for the nursing care of a range of first-opinion cases, contributing to clinical standards and supporting the ongoing development of patient care within the practice.

Working Pattern

  • 38 hours per week
  • Two 8:00 am–7:00 pm shifts each week
  • Two 8:00 am–5:30 pm shifts each week
  • 1 in 4 Saturday rota

General Responsibilities

  • Conduct nurse consultations and provide inpatient medical care
  • Assist with diagnostic procedures, including cytology and urinalysis
  • Undertake dental nursing duties including dental radiography, scaling and polishing
  • Utilise and develop a broad range of nursing skills in a supportive clinical environment
  • Focus on clinical responsibilities with support from a dedicated reception team and pharmacy dispenser
