We are looking for a motivated RVN to join our team at Southern Counties Veterinary Specialists as a Multidisciplinary Nurse. The role involves rotation through many of the departments within the hospital including Medicine, Neurology, Wards, Surgery and Imaging, enabling you to gain experience with advanced procedures and the treatment of complex cases whilst being supported by our discipline specific nurses.
SCVS are a specialist-led small animal hospital equipped with the expertise and knowledge to support the most complex of cases. As a large multidisciplinary referral hospital, we offer impressive facilities and state-of-the-art equipment which enable us to provide outstanding treatment to our patients from the initial consultation right through to discharging them from our care. We are conveniently based in Ringwood, Hampshire, just off the A31.
Hospital HighlightsWe have an outstanding team of recognised specialists across a multitude of disciplines. We also have a dedicated rehabilitation team who provide physiotherapy and hydrotherapy to aide post-operative recovery. Our recent expansion has provided us with a new purpose-built theatre complex, a two-storey facility housing a large client reception and waiting area, 10 new consulting rooms, along with a new rehabilitation centre.
How You’ll Make a DifferenceAs a Referral Nurse, you will deliver advanced nursing care to complex cases within a referral hospital environment, supporting patients, clients, and clinical teams across a range of disciplines. You’ll work as part of a multidisciplinary team, contributing to high standards of nursing care, supporting clinical decision-making, and sharing your experience and knowledge with colleagues to continually improve patient outcomes and service delivery. This role will be perfectly suited to someone who wants to diversify their skills nursing complex referral cases, working within a Specialist-led hospital.
Working Pattern- 40hrs per week
- 5 week rotating rota between the hours of 07:00-19:30
- 1 in 5 full weekends with TOIL
- Example rota can be provided at telephone interview stage
- Communicating with the clinical team and discipline-specific specialists, to ensure high-quality care to our patients at all stages of their treatment.
- Rotation through many of the departments within the hospital including Medicine, Neurology, Wards, Surgery and Imaging.
- Our multidisciplinary nursing team develop a broad range of clinical skills and knowledge by working with different types of patients and procedures across the practice; requiring flexibility and adaptability to different environments and patient needs.
You are an experienced Registered Veterinary Nurse with strong clinical capability and a passion for referral-level nursing. This position would be suitable for anyone looking to expand your knowledge and skills in all aspects of referral veterinary nursing. You’ll bring:
- Registration as a Veterinary Nurse with the RCVS
- Confidence in all aspects of clinical practice with strong medical and surgical nursing skills
- Experience working with complex cases in a referral or advanced-care environment would be beneficial
