We are seeking an enthusiastic, team‑orientated Registered Veterinary Nurse to join our team at Begbroke Vet Surgery on a 12‑month fixed‑term contract to cover maternity leave. Begbroke Vet Surgery is a small animal clinic situated in Begbroke, just outside North Oxford and close to Woodstock. You’ll be joining a friendly and supportive team made up of four Veterinary Surgeons, two Registered Veterinary Nurses, one Animal Nursing Assistant and one Receptionist. Our clinic is well‑equipped with an in‑house laboratory, x‑ray, dental equipment including dental x‑ray, theatre with diathermy, and multiparameter monitoring. We also have dedicated nurse consulting hours, giving our nursing team the opportunity to build strong client relationships and support preventative healthcare.

How You’ll Make a Difference

As a Registered Veterinary Nurse, you will be an integral member of the clinical team, delivering high‑quality nursing care to patients while supporting excellent client experiences. You’ll work collaboratively with veterinary surgeons and the wider practice team, taking responsibility for the nursing care of a range of first‑opinion cases, contributing to clinical standards, and supporting the ongoing development of patient care within the practice. This is a varied role where you will be involved in all aspects of general nursing, including inpatient care, theatre support, anaesthesia monitoring, dental procedures, nurse consultations, diagnostics, and client communication. This is a 12‑month fixed‑term contract working 40 hours per week across Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday, 8:30am to 6:30pm, with a 30‑minute unpaid lunch break. There is also a 1 in 2 Saturday morning rota, working 9:00am to 1:00pm. There are no out‑of‑hours requirements, with support provided by our Tier 3 hospital in Chipping Norton.

General responsibilities include:

  • Deliver high standards of nursing care across a varied first‑opinion caseload
  • Support surgical and dental procedures, including anaesthesia monitoring and theatre nursing
  • Run nurse consultations and support preventative healthcare
  • Assist with diagnostics, including laboratory work, x‑ray and dental x‑ray
