We are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Equine House Vet to join our large multidisciplinary equine referral hospital. This is an exciting opportunity to work within a highly experienced team of specialists and clinicians managing a diverse and challenging caseload across medicine, surgery, lameness, diagnostic imaging, intensive care, and emergency services. The role is ideally suited to a vet looking to further develop their clinical skills in a busy hospital environment while gaining exposure to advanced referral-level equine practice.
As a Veterinary Intern, you will gain valuable exposure to a referral or advanced clinical environment, working collaboratively with experienced veterinary surgeons, nurses, and support teams to deliver high-quality patient and client care. This role is designed to support your clinical development, build confidence in managing more complex cases, and deepen your understanding of evidence-based veterinary medicine. You’ll actively participate in ward rounds, case discussions, and clinical governance activities, while being supported by senior clinicians and mentors.
Responsibilities- Management and monitoring of hospitalised equine patients
- Assisting with emergency admissions and intensive care cases
- Supporting surgical, medical, and diagnostic procedures
- Participation in anaesthesia support and perioperative care
- Involvement in lameness evaluations and diagnostic imaging cases
- Communication with owners and referring veterinarians
- Accurate clinical record keeping and case management
- Participation in the out-of-hours and weekend rota
- Full surgical suite and recovery facilities
- Advanced diagnostic imaging (MRI, standing CT, scintigraphy, digital radiography, ultrasonography, endoscopy)
- On-site laboratory
You are a motivated and enthusiastic veterinary surgeon who is keen to develop their clinical skills within a supportive referral or advanced-care setting. You’ll bring:
- A Veterinary degree and registration with the RCVS with experience working as part of a clinical veterinary team
- Strong organisational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritise workload effectively
- Clear and confident communication skills, with a collaborative approach to teamwork and a positive and proactive attitude to learning and development
- An interest in evidence-based veterinary medicine and clinical best practice
- Professionalism, resilience, and the ability to remain calm in a busy clinical environment
