We are seeking an enthusiastic, team-oriented Registered Veterinary Nurse to join our team at Downland Vets on a part-time basis. Here at Downland Vet Group, we are proud of our excellent reputation among both clients and staff, built on a supportive and nurturing culture. You will work across three fantastic sites, at both Goffs and Hailsham surgeries. We have two consulting rooms, nurse clinics, full dentistry facilities including dental x-rays, theatre and prep rooms, multiparameter anaesthetic monitoring, in-house laboratory and diagnostics, separate dog & cat wards, an isolation ward, and a mobile ultrasound machine. At Stone Cross Surgery, we have two consulting rooms and a non-stop waiting area, with procedures to either Goffs or Hailsham. All 3 surgeries have free parking nearby and are surrounded by local amenities. Hailsham and Stone Cross are recently renovated, and our Goffs surgery is currently being renovated, with a reopening due in August 2026.

Within our team, we have 7 Vets, 11 Nurses (including 3 students) and 8 support staff, working across the three surgeries sharing the same vision for growth within our practice. Our clinical team each bring something different to the table, each having their own areas of interest, which we strongly encourage. We do have certificate holders amongst the team too - ECC, Geriatric Medicine and Soft Tissue Surgery. We have regular Visiting Vets for orthopaedic surgery, endoscopy, advanced ultrasonography and ophthalmology.

As a Registered Veterinary Nurse, you will be an integral member of the clinical team, delivering high-quality nursing care to patients while supporting excellent client experiences. You’ll work collaboratively with veterinary surgeons and the wider practice team, taking responsibility for the nursing care of a range of first opinion cases, contributing to clinical standards, and supporting the ongoing development of patient care within the practice.

The shift pattern entails working 3 days per week, 8:30 am to 7 pm (1-hour lunch break) with 1:8 Saturdays 8:30 am to 1:30 pm. General responsibilities are rotated between in-patient care, theatre duties, assisting with imaging, lab work and consulting.   • A good amount of experience working in clinical practice, with growing confidence in medical and surgical nursing
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships with clients and colleagues
