Inglis Vets are looking for a Veterinary Surgeon to join our large, friendly, and forward-thinking team based in Dunfermline.
This is a fantastic opportunity to join a progressive practice offering a genuinely varied caseload, strong clinical support, and excellent opportunities for development within a collaborative and supportive environment. This role offers an excellent balance of hospital and branch work, typically split between two days at the hospital and two days at a dedicated branch practice. This structure allows you to enjoy the variety and continuity of first-opinion practice while building strong relationships with clients and their pets, alongside exposure to a diverse and more complex hospital caseload.
You will primarily work from a designated branch, enabling you to establish continuity of care and become a familiar face to clients, although there may be occasional opportunities to support other branches across the group to provide holiday and sickness cover. Hospital shifts include the management of hospitalised and intensive care patients, emergency presentations, and more advanced medical and surgical cases, offering excellent opportunities to expand your clinical experience and confidence.
You’ll be supported by an experienced multidisciplinary team including RVNs, Animal Care Assistants, and a dedicated Client Care team, alongside visiting specialists in orthopaedics, dermatology, and ophthalmology.

- Excellent balance of hospital and branch work, allowing you to build strong client relationships while gaining exposure to more advanced medical and surgical cases
- Large emergency and critical care caseload supported by our own in-house Out of Hours service, with experienced Night Nurses on-site throughout the night
- Large, supportive team of approximately 100 colleagues, including 30 Veterinary Surgeons, 40 RVNs and Animal Care Assistants, and 30 dedicated Support Staff
- Strong clinical support from an experienced team with excellent staff retention and a collaborative working culture

- Deliver high-quality consultations, diagnostics, and treatment plans across a varied caseload
- Perform routine surgical procedures and support the management of more complex hospital cases
- Provide care for hospitalised and intensive care patients during hospital shifts
- Build strong client relationships and continuity of care within branch practice
- Work collaboratively with RVNs, Animal Care Assistants, and the wider clinical team
- Participate in the in-house Out of Hours rota with support from experienced Night Nurses
- Contribute positively to the supportive and collaborative culture of the practice
- 40 hours per week
- Full-time typically worked over 4 weekdays Monday‑Friday between 7:45am and 7pm
- 1 in 12 blocks of night duty (4pm‑8am)
- Generous stand‑down period following night duty blocks
- 1 in 12 weekend day rota
