We are seeking an enthusiastic, team-oriented Registered Veterinary Nurse to join our team at Dorset Coast Vets on a part-time basis. This is a fixed-term contract expected to last around 12 months, working between our fantastic Dorchester and Weymouth branches.
We have a fantastic opportunity at Dorset Coast Vets, where you will join a well-established, modern small-animal practice in which nursing plays a central role in patient care. From day one, you will be trusted, supported, and encouraged to develop your skills in a team that values what you do.
Practice Highlights- Experienced team made up of 6 Veterinary Surgeons, 10 Veterinary Nurses, and 10 receptionists

- Excellent facilities including 2 dental suites, x-ray, ultrasound, and separate dog and cat wards, reception, and ward
- Dedicated nurse consulting room, allowing nurses to fully utilise their skills
As a Registered Veterinary Nurse, you will be an integral member of the clinical team, delivering high-quality nursing care to patients while supporting excellent client experiences. You’ll work collaboratively with veterinary surgeons and the wider practice team, taking responsibility for the nursing care of a range of first opinion cases, contributing to clinical standards, and supporting the ongoing development of patient care within the practice.
Working Pattern- 22.5 hours per week
- 7.5 hours, ideally on a Tuesday, Wednesday and a Thursday each week
- Possibly 1:8 Saturdays on the Saturday rota
- No out-of-hours work, no Sundays, and no bank holidays
- Anaesthetic monitoring
- Inpatient care
- Surgical nursing
- Nurse clinics and triage
- Stage 1 dentals
We’re looking for a confident and motivated Registered Veterinary Nurse who enjoys working as part of a team and delivering high standards of care. You’ll bring:
- Registration as a Veterinary Nurse with the RCVS
- Experience working in clinical practice, with growing confidence in medical and surgical nursing
- Strong communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships with clients and colleagues
- Good organisational skills and the ability to manage workload effectively
- A proactive approach to learning, reflection, and continuous improvement
